The subject Statistics was introduced in H.S. classes in 1984 after obtaining concurrence from Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. The department was accorded permission to introduce statistics as a subject in the degree classes by Gauhati University in 2002. The department has introduced Major course in Statistics in 2009.
